We specialise in the international sale and purchase of web-offset
presses, both newspaper coldset and commercial heatset. We operate in new
and used web-offset, and have been trading for over a quarter of a
century, making us one of the oldest established constantly trading
companies of our type in the world.
MK was established by our company President and CEO, Ian McGowan-Kemp
in the mid 1970s. Prior to that Ian had already worked with companies in
the UK and Germany, including the American newspaper 'Stars and Stripes',
and a Managing Directorship at a leading UK magazine publishing house.
During his time in Germany Ian developed a thorough understanding of the
language, and is fully fluent to this day.
Rupert McGowan-Kemp (Director of Sales and Marketing) has a background
in Graphic Design and Graphic Arts, and joined the company in the mid
1990s. Rupert has introduced and carefully merged new technology and new
approaches to the well-established methods at MK, helping to create a
company with both solid fundamentals, and modern business practices. Our
efficient and dedicated sales team can be contacted by referring to the ‘call us
back’ link on the left hand column.
MK has a headquarters based in the UK, with international offices in Scandinavia, Cyprus (looking after our
Russian speaking market, lead by Vyacheslav Chulkov) and Jakarta (lead by

We aim to provide a service to your company whereby we save you time
and money. We can do this in several ways. It is our company policy to
negotiate only with printers and end-users. By doing this we not only
provide the best and most accurate information service, but we can ensure
that our prices remain the most competitive since we are the only company
negotiating between the client (you) and the press owner. This also works
in the opposite way; if you are selling some equipment, by talking
directly to an end-user client we can negotiate the best price for your
press. Other dealer / vendor companies might have finders’ fees or
commission payments to consider when negotiating a price.
We can save you money on the machines that you purchase. We have such a
good range of machinery for sale that you are not likely to encounter a
limitation on your choice of machinery. By fully understanding your press
requirements, we can put together a bespoke list of machines that we feel
would be suitable for you. In providing you with more choice, you are able
to make a decision based on numerous factors, which might include price,
condition, specification suitability, and so on. I would like to explain
how we are able to provide you a good range of machines. During our 25+
years in establishment we have gained a large portfolio of real clients,
and we list their machines onto our database for future referral. In
addition to our existing client base, we have a team of world-wide agents
who keep us well informed of machines becoming available in their regions.
From our headquarters in the UK, we have a team of dedicated sales staff
who are constantly writing to potential clients to see what machinery is
available for purchase.
As just previously mentioned, we have a large database of real clients,
and as such we have the facility to offer your surplus machinery to a wide
target audience. This not only improves the opportunity for success, but
it also means that we will be able to achieve the best possible prices for
your machinery, since it is only our company brokering a deal. We aim to
achieve a fair price both for you the seller, and for the purchaser. Our
service is professional, and we will visit you and your press before
initiating a marketing campaign which generally involves a detailed
specification document complete with photos, print samples and in some
cases small mpeg movies. Our sales team with then set about contacting
clients who we know are in the market for a specific machine, and our
senior managers and directors will schedule visits to these clients to
follow up the enquiry in order to bring it to completion.
All of this means that you can hand over your web-offset requirements
to tried and tested professionals, enabling you to focus your attention on
the job that makes you money - printing and publishing.
Whatever your web-offset requirements, contact MK, your new web-offset
partners.
A common topic of discussion within the print industry is where the
future will take all of us. We believe that irrelevant of the advances in
technology, or the trends of tomorrow, there will always be a desire for
print media. Plasma screens? On-line newspapers? There is rarely something
as efficient, practical and cheap as a newspaper or magazine. They will
hold their place in our day-to-day lives in the same way that theatre,
opera, television and sport events do. On-line newspapers will be useful
for instant headlines, however when one feels the urge to learn more about
the news of the day, a newspaper over lunch or on the train is the only
foreseeable choice. Did television kill radio? No, it provided a different
media by which to entertain our lives.
Wherever technology takes us, MK will be right there alongside.
Printers all over the world will be looking to replace and sell their
machinery. What is too slow for one company will be ideal for the other.
MK will ensure that these companies meet each other, and the re-cycling of
printing machinery continues.
